Face Coverings now required for all onsite, indoor gatherings
Mask Optional Services temporarily discontinued
Given new scientific understandings of the transmissibility of the DELTA variant of COVID 19, even among those who have been fully vaccinated, the CDC now recommends that “people wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial and high community transmission,” even if they are fully vaccinated. The four counties that Lutheran Church of the Redeemer primarily serves all currently qualify as areas of substantial and high community transmission. Also concerning is the new understanding that with so-called breakthrough infections, even fully vaccinated persons who are asymptomatic can unknowingly transmit the virus to others.
The Mayor of Atlanta has followed these recommendations by mandating residents wear a mask when indoors in a public place, even if they have been vaccinated. The order applies to private businesses as well as public property.
Therefore, Lutheran Church of the Redeemer is reinstituting a requirement that face coverings be worn at all times and proper social distancing be maintained for all indoor gatherings on site, including worship, regardless of vaccination status. Further, during this current crisis, it is highly recommended that until someone is able to be fully vaccinated, they join us for worship and other activities by utilizing our online opportunities.
