Pastor Mark leads the Middle School students at the annual Fall Confirmation Retreat at Lutheranch.
6th-8th Grade are the Confirmation Years
For our 6th-8th graders, we operate under a 3-year Confirmation rotation using the “Here We Stand” curriculum (Small Catechism, Old Testament, and New Testament). During the Confirmation teaching calendar, we have one of our pastors teach the large group session and then youth go with their small groups for the last time period. Small groups are broken up by grade level and gender. The groups also meet by grade level at the end of each month.
In the Fall, our Confirmation students attend a weekend Confirmation Retreat that is led by our Senior Pastor, Pastor Mark. We focus on a topic depending on what is going on with our rotation schedule. This is a great time to get to know other Confirmation students, learning more about a topic, and doing a lot of fun activities. The lake, capture the flag, and s’mores are some of our crowd favorites!
Our rising 8th graders spend a week attending the Kairos Camp week (Confirmation Camp) at Lutheridge in North Carolina. This is one of our most talked about events during the Middle School years.
Typically in May, the 8th grade students who meet the requirements are confirmed at a Sunday morning worship service or a special Saturday worship service depending upon the size of the class. Each confirmand delivers his or her statement of faith during the service.
